26-Year-old Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident near 134 Freeway
PASADENA, CA (July 9, 2021) – Nayely Ortega, 26, died early Tuesday morning in a pedestrian accident on the 210 Freeway in Pasadena.
The accident occurred near the 134 Freeway, on June 22, around 1:52 a.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Ortega was walking on the #3 and 4 lanes of the freeway when a westbound white Ford Expedition struck her.
Despite the fact that the SUV driver swerved to avoid Ortega, the left side of the vehicle still struck her. As a result, she was propelled northwesterly and landed on the asphalt road.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced Ortega dead.
The SUV’s driver, a 40-year-old woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
For several hours, crews closed two right lanes of traffic on the 210 Freeway while they cleared the wreckage.
The accident’s circumstances are still being investigated. Officers asked anyone with additional information to call them at (626) 296-8100.
