Stephen Curry may be known as the best shooter in the NBA but in Hollywood, he is making headlines for his pitches. Since forming his production company Unanimous Media in 2018, Curry and his business partner Erick Peyton have blazed a path creating uplifting content in film, television and podcasts. Peyton, who is the chief creative officer of Unanimous Media shared their journey and upcoming projects in an episode of the AAFCA Podcast.
Peyton met Curry only a few years ago but after meeting, the two developed a concept that became the driving focus behind their company’s mission. According to Peyton, the duo wanted to focus on content that was uplifting and inspiring.
“Our silos are family, faith and sports, and those come from Stephen himself,” says Peyton. “He’s a man of faith. He’s a big sports icon and he’s a family man. So those are the silos that we really focus on.”
Unanimous Media produced its first film, “Breakthrough” and its first TV series, the miniature golf competition show, “Holey Moley” for NBC in 2019. In just a few years their company has filled their production slate with several new projects including two highly anticipated projects: the animated remake of “Good Times” and the series based on the critically acclaimed film, “Finding Forrester.” Recently, Unanimous Media penned a first-look deal with Audible to produce audio content. One project currently in their upcoming roster is the audio series, The Greatest Story Never Told. Peyton describes the unique sports series that tells the story behind some of the sporting industry’s greatest moments.
“It’s really about the moments in between the big moments that I really want to hear about. Like when you talk about playing high school ball, it’s not necessarily talking about the guy that ran the touchdown back, it’s the speech the coach gave before it, and what motivated that touchdown. Those are the stories we want to tell. We want to tell the stories about the days off before the World Series – the sports adjacent stories.”
