Collision Between a Bicycle and a Vehicle in SR-62 left Iowa Woman Killed
JOSHUA TREE, CA (November 4, 2021) – A deadly bicycle-auto collision claimed the life of Martha Masters Wednesday afternoon.
The fatal collision happened around 2:20 p.m. on State Route 62, west of Rice Avenue.
According to the CHP, an 80-year-old driver from Twentynine Palms is westbound on SR-62 in the number 2 lane.
Meanwhile, a westbound bicyclist is riding the shoulder of the same freeway.
However, a driver made an unsafe turn causing the vehicle to strike the rear of the bicycle.
As a result, the crash ejected the bicyclist from the bicycle and landed on the shoulder of the roadway.
Later on, the coroner’s office identified the deceased bicyclist as 38-year-old Martha Masters of Iowa.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the involved driver to Hi-Desert Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the deadly SR-62 crash.
