I-10 Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Big-Rig Leaves One Fatality
BLYTHE, CA (July 30, 2021) – A multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 10 claimed the life of Du Maurier Way on Wednesday.
The CHP responded to the incident around 2:14 a.m., on the eastbound I-10, west of Arrowhead Boulevard.
Two trucks were stopped on the shoulder when Du Maurier Way was outside one of the trucks to handle mechanical issues. For reasons unknown, a big-rig veered off the roadway and struck him.
Afterwards, the big-rig overturned and injured its driver, identified as 69-year-old Samuel Garcia of Whittier. Medical personnel transported Garcia to a hospital for serious head injuries.
In addition, a woman inside one of the vehicles involved complained about the pain she received from the crash. However, it remains unclear whether paramedics took the woman to the hospital.
Unfortunately, 41-year-old Du Maurier Way did not survive the incident and died at the scene, according to CHP.
At this time, Blythe Officials are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the multi-vehicle crash.
