Rooftop Fireworks And A New NoMoo Burger – Here’s What’s Popping Up

 NoMoo New American Burgers – the mission-driven, plant-based gourmet burger joint is launching their BBQ ‘Facon’ Burger on Thursday, July 1. Housed in the original Johnny Rockets Diner location on Melrose, NoMoo  features  plant-based burgers, chick’n sandwiches, fresh-baked vegan brioche buns, a variety of non-dairy milkshakes and locally sourced lettuce and produce. In addition to ethical food sourcing, NoMoo  donates 10% of all profits to LA-based non-profits like  Mercy for Animals). The  BBQ Facon Burger is made with freshly baked brioche, house-made ‘bacon’, secret barbeque sauce, fried onion strings, an Impossible patty and vegan American ‘cheese’.

Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills is celebrating the 4th of July holiday weekend with two days of fireworks, brunch and dinner specials at The Rooftop by JG and Jean-Georges Beverly Hills. Both restaurants will be serving their regular menus in addition to weekend specials.

The Rooftop by JG is hosting a three-course family style brunch on Sunday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A fireworks dinner experience will be offered starting at 5pm, lasting until close at 12am. The dinner  features an a la carte menu with  views of the surrounding fireworks shows. VIP seats are available and must be made through the reservations team. On both Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4, Jean-Georges Beverly Hills has a three-course family style brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a special eight course dinner experience from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The outdoor urban eatery SteelCraft Bellflower, built using repurposed shipping containers, welcomes  Baba’s Hot Chicken on the 4th of July weekend.  Specializing in  Nashville hot chicken, Baba’s Hot Chicken began in 2019 as a pop-up before its flagship location was opened in Riverside the following year.

And if you’re celebrating the holiday at home with a barbeque, become an expert by registering at the  Center for Culinary Culture  for a virtual morning call  on  Saturday, June 26, with certified BBQ judge Adrian Miller, the James Beard Award-winning author of Black Smoke: African Americans and the United States of Barbecue,  for  tales of Black perseverance, culinary innovation, and entrepreneurship. Admission is free, but you must REGISTER for access.

Denny’s is hosting a hiring tour  to support its effort to hire for 20,000 jobs nationwide. On Friday, July 2, the tour will arrive at the Denny’s restaurant at 7 East Huntington Drive, Arcadia, Calif.  Hourly positions for cooks, hosts, hostesses, service assistants and restaurant managers are  available.  As a  treat for those applying onsite during the tour, Denny’s will be giving out its new Red, White and Blue Pancake Breakfast to all applicants from its 53-foot food truck.
