Whipped Cream gets Her Just Desserts: Toronto-born DJ and producerWhipped Cream, aka Caroline Cecil, spent her formative years as a figure skater, before an accident led to a new passion. Eight years ago she started on a new life in music, taking it seriously straight away.
“I knew it was what I was meant to do,” she says. “My sound is what’s raw and real to me. I get inspired by nature, cinema, electronica, hip-hop, experimental melancholy music and R&B.”
Of the state of electronic music today, she says: “I think electronic music right now is a new set life form. I think the pandemic made time for people to really sit with themselves and create from a more real state.”
Whipped Cream’s latest single and video is “Light of Mine” with Jimorrow.
“‘Light of Mine’ is a special track to me because it focuses on the hardships I faced the last couple months,” she says. “After hearing the song and watching the music video, I want people to realize they all have the light within them and it’s only a matter of time until they find it.”
Looking ahead, there’s a yet-to-be-announced big show planned, and more new music. Keep your eyes out for her.
