Two Dead after Toyota and Semi-Truck Collide Head-On in Moorpark
MOORPARK, CA (November 23, 2021) – Monday afternoon, John Queen and Jonathan Yip were killed in a head-on accident on Grimes Canyon Road.
The incident happened around 3:00 p.m., and involved two vehicles. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.
According to reports, Queen was driving a 2020 Toyota sedan north on Grimes Canyon. Meanwhile, Yip was riding in the passenger seat, and a 59-year-old Moorpark man was in the back seat.
While attempting to navigate a turn, Queen drifted into the southbound lanes and eventually collided head-on with a southbound Peterbilt semi-truck attached to a trailer.
The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire. Although, Ventura County firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
Emergency crews arrived and pronounced both Queen, 23, and Yip, 23, dead at the scene. The other Toyota passenger was transported to Los Robles Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the 61-year-old male semi-truck driver from Los Angeles, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the same hospital.
The cause of the accident remains under active investigation.
