OVR users will be able to earn money by scanning geographical locations.
The geographic AR Metaverse of OVRLand NFT is about to explore a new, more accurate and detailed 3D map than ever before. How? Thanks to the potential Map to Earn which will engage users to earn OVR tokens, simply by scanning geographical locations with the smartphone in their pocket!
Thanks to OVR’s Land Mapping technology, the most detailed pictures of the planet will be part of the AR metaverse created by OVR with its increasingly valuable Non-Fungible OVRLand Tokens.
AR Metaverse of OVRLand NFT exceeds its own limits
OVR aims to overcome its own limits of accuracy through the AI power of OVR Land Mapping.
Basically, whereas until now geolocating an AR asset in an NFT OVRLand was limited by the accuracy of GPS (usually no better than 6 metres), now a scanned OVRLand will have a location accuracy of up to 20 cm.
Hence, with the intervention of OVR Land Mapping, new scenarios and opportunities open up allowing AR experiences on the OVR Metaverse that were not feasible before.
To give an idea, with these new parameters it will now be possible to geolocate assets indoors and on multiple floors, locate experiences on a specific wall or a statue outdoors, accurately overlay AR on existing buildings, and much more.
But how to acquire the scanned OVRLands? OVR has come up with Map to Earn, a concept that engages the public in scanning specific locations with just a smartphone, receiving OVR tokens in return.
AR Metaverse of OVRLand NFT and the Map to Earn
OVR’s Map to Earn allows all users to participate in the goal of creating the most detailed 3D map of the AR metaverse on the planet.
Similar to Axie Infinity’s play-to-earn, which was very successful in allowing a crowd of players to earn a living in the metaverse while creating social inclusion among some of the poorest people on our planet.
Now, instead of “playing”, it’s “mapping”. Actually, OVR has already carried out Map to Earn in the past when a crowd of mappers physically went to over a million locations and mapped 300,000 square kilometres of the OVR metaverse, collecting OVR tokens in return.
Now things are getting even more interesting. To participate in OVR’s Map to Earn, new mappers will simply need to have their smartphones at hand, without the need for lidar or other expensive HW.
Map to Earn for the most detailed 3D map of the Metaverse ever
Map to Earn will be funded by OVR, using revenues from the sales of OVRLand NFTs. Not only that, at the same time, NFT owners will also be able to decide whether to integrate 3D mapping to their OVRLands to make them more valuable and participate in supporting Map to Earn. Institutions will also be able to take advantage of the OVR platform to populate the public utility layer of their territories.
The selection of places to be scanned was made based on voting. Essentially, buyers of OVRLand NFTs generated a map based on the “Wisdom of the Crowds”, 6k+ investors voting with their wealth on the most important locations in the world.
This OVR infrastructure was created to “democratize” decision-making and scanning processes in a unique way.
With this in mind, Davide Cuttini, CEO of OVR describes his idea of the AR metaverse as follows:
“When I imagine a world where reality and virtuality are fused, where thanks to small contact lenses I can’t distinguish real and unreal projections, the crowdsourced 3D world scanning is the fundamental brick to create an amazing new infrastructure. Without the complete understanding of the real world through AI models available from commodity devices, no AR platforms will see a real adoption. I think that OVR is in the right direction to democratize access to this amazing new way to live our lives!”
