5 Freeway Multi-Vehicle Crash Left Two Fatalities
IRVINE, CA (November 19, 2021) – A multi-vehicle crash on 5 Freeway claimed the life of Alice Read and one other person early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 2:10 a.m. at the southbound Santa Ana 5 Freeway near Yale Avenue.
According to the CHP, a 2016 Honda Civic driven by Shalaya A. Sierra stopped on the right shoulder of the highway.
Afterwards, a man exited the vehicle and was struck by a passing white Honda.
Eventually, the first responders arrived at the scene and declared the man dead at the scene including 25-year-old Alice Read.
Read was occupying the middle rear of the 2016 Honda. Paramedics rushed her to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Meanwhile, police arrested Jorge Erasto Cruz for driving under the influence.
Currently, he is being held in Orange County Jail on a $1 million bail.
