Woman Killed in Fatal 2-Car Crash on Palazzo Road
MERCED, CA (October 1, 2021) – Wednesday, 50-year-old Martina Lopez Valdez, of Dos Palos died in a head-on collision on Turner Island Road.
The accident happened around 6:25 a.m., at the intersection of Turner Island Road and Palazzo Road.
Valdez was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Spark southward on Turner Island Road at an unknown speed. Meanwhile, Joaquin Hernandez, 54, of Dos Palos, was driving a 2017 Challenger tractor with an attached furrow chisel northbound.
Because of the width of the farm truck and restricted lighting, the Chevrolet crashed head-on into the left of the tractor’s furrow chisel.
Responding officers located and declared Valdez dead at the scene.
At this time, officials did not release any further information of the crash.
Police ruled out alcohol or drugs as factors in the fatal accident. However, an active investigation is underway.
