Injuries Reported after Car Accident on Borchardt Drive in Visalia
VISALISA, CA (July 20, 2021) – Early Thursday morning, Mr. Cortez-Ruiz suffered serious injuries in a rollover accident on Avenue 54 in Visalia.
The crash occurred around 4:54 a.m., on Avenue 54 near Borchardt Drive. According to reports, Mr. Cortez-Ruiz was a passenger inside the vehicle.
The driver, Ms. Hernandez-Mikely saw a parked work truck with its light on. Believing that it was an oncoming vehicle, she then swerved to avoid a collision, causing her vehicle to overturn.
As a result, Mr. Cortez-Ruiz was ejected from the front passenger side window onto the concrete road. In addition, he was not wearing a seat belt at the time.
Paramedics arrived shortly after and transported him to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with critical wounds. Another passenger suffered minor injuries and did not require medical transportation.
At this time, the crash remains under active investigation. CHP says drugs or alcohol were not involved. However, more details will be given once available.
