The incident occurred around 3:50 a.m., on Highway 58 west of the Cottonwood Road off-ramp, according to the CHP.

Shortly after their arrival, officers declared the pedestrian dead on the scene after they located him lying on the roadway.

According to reports, the driver immediately fled the scene before the police arrived.
