Driver Severely Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 58 near Chester Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 20, 2021 ) – Thursday evening, a driver sustained life-threatening injuries in a semi-truck accident on Highway 58.
The crash occurred at around 5:50 p.m., on Highway 58, near Chester Avenue. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to CHP, a white Nissan was rear-ended and eventually pinned underneath a semi-truck. Emergency crews used a crane to lift the trailer and pull the driver out from underneath.
The driver of the Nissan suffered severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
According to CHP, authorities are looking into whether the driver of the yellow semi-truck was using a smartphone at the time of the collision.
