One Dead, Two Injured in Head-On Crash on West End of Riverside
RIVERSIDE, CA (July 20, 2021) – Monday morning, July 12, Cruz Carrasco died in a two-vehicle head-on collision in Riverside.
The crash took place around 1:00 a.m., in the 4400 block of Tyler Street near California Avenue, as stated by the report. Officers arrived shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
According to the Riverside Police, a 28-year-old Riverside man was driving a 2008 Lexus sedan northbound on Tyler Street. For reasons unknown, he lost control of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, Carrasco was heading south on Tyler Street in a 2011 Nissan Sentra. He attempted to swerve out of the way as the Lexus jumped the center median and ended up directly in his path. As a result, the two vehicles collided head-on.
The Lexus driver was seriously injured and required transportation to Riverside Community Hospital. However, 52-year-old Carrasco of Anaheim, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police closed down Tyler Street in both directions during investigation and cleanup. At this time, it is still unknown whether or not drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
An active investigation into the accident is still underway.
